American Red Cross.
The ARC provides immediate disaster assistance, loss mitigation and referrals to agencies that can
help you with housing, clothing, and furnishing needs. They also offer a free clean-up kit of mops,
buckets, brooms and other clean-up materials. Local chapters can be accessed for training schedules
and information about volunteering.
California State Office of Emergency Services (OES).
Responsible for assuring the state's readiness to respond to and recover from natural, manmade,
and war-caused emergencies, and for assisting local governments in their emergency preparedness,
response and recovery efforts. Site has info for individuals, Emergency Planners, Local Governments, etc.
Center for Disease Control and Prevention Public Health and
Emergency Preparedness and Response.
CERF (Craft Emergency Relief Fund).
A non-profit, tax exempt organization which provides immediate support to professional craftspeople
facing career threatening emergencies such as fire, theft, illness and natural disaster. Created in
1985, CERF is the only organization of its kind in the United States.

Sponsored by a of San Fancisco Bay Area collaboratives that are devoted to helping vulnerable
populations with disaster preparation and response. Resources for both agency and individual
preparedness and planning for all kinds of disasters.
Ready.Gov Government Website. Consumer guidance on
emergency preparedness.
Federal Emergency Management Agency.
At (800) 462-9029 will help determine eligibility for federal disaster assistance including
low-interest loans for rebuilding and grants for temporary housing. Website also has extensive
resources and materials for mitigation, preparation and response.
FirstGov.
In September 2000, a cross agency group administered by the GSA, launched FirstGov.gov, the only official U.S. Government portal to 47 million pages of government information, services, and online transactions. Our site offers a powerful search engine that searches every word of every U.S. government document in a quarter of a second or less.
National Voluntary
Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD).
A non-profit organization that facilitates agency collaboration in disaster response. Links to over
30 national 501(c)3 members that participate on a national level with disaster preparation and response. Members coordinate services and resources to assure service to vulnerable populations, identification of unmet needs, long term recovery assistance, and information sharing.
The Salvation Army.
Some of the disaster relief programs that may be provided by the Salvation Army include, Spiritual
Ministry, Individual and family trauma Counseling, Identification/Registration, Feeding at fixed
sites and in mobile units, Financial Assistance, Shelter, collection and distribution of In Kind
Donations, and Advocacy and referral to private and public assistance programs.
USDA Farm Service Natural Disaster Assistance.
The Farm Service Agency (FSA) is an Agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
A farming or ranching operation that has suffered a loss due to a natural disaster, may be eligible
for assistance under one or more of the many FSA programs.
USDA, Food and Nutrition Service,
Food Distribution Division. Supplies food to disaster relief
organizations for mass feeding or household distribution.
